This course will address many facets of human sexuality in a safe and respectful environment. The central theme of the course is taught around six fundamental principles of sexual health that will include the physiology, psychology, and sociology of sexual health, the effects of sexual attitudes and functioning on individuals and families, definitions of sexual disorders, sexual problems and sexual worries. Students will develop familiarity with the language and terms of sexual health and demonstrate an ability to apply this knowledge to classroom situations. Learning activities include discussion, reading, out of class visits to sexual health consumer environments, and demonstrating verbal and interpersonal sexual health related skills.
