Course Description
Join us for an evening with acclaimed author and award-winning sex therapist Doug Braun-Harvey to learn, with other colleagues, an alternative sexual health model for assessing and treating sexual behavior problems. This evening event is an opportunity for case consultation from a leader in the field of sexual health. Participants are encouraged to bring details from their practice for case consultation. This evening event is designed to optimize discussion, dialogue and lively critical thinking regarding the treatment of sexual health and out of control sexual behavior (OCSB).
Course Objectives
This workshop is appropriate for sexual educators, counselors and therapists.
The participant will:
- Describe clinician’s ethical responsibility when assessing and treating problematic or out of control sexual behaviors.
- Identify the six fundamentals of sexual health as the framework to guide vision of sexual health in treating men with OCSB.
- Classify areas of clinical vulnerability and common disruptors assessed in the preliminary screening of OCSB initial appointment.
- Review the information gathering and treatment elements within the OCSB assessment process.
- Discuss a client sexual health plan and it’s role in agreement keeping as an essential component of OCSB group and individual therapy.
- Explain how regulation, attachment and sexual/erotic conflicts disrupt the relationship between deliberative and affective systems leading to OCSB symptoms.
Course Information
1 CE credit available (pending) to licenced Mental Health Professionals and Psychologists. Late arrivals or early departures will NOT receive CE credits. Clinical students can register with instructor permission. Approved for 1 AASECT CE credit.

Course Description
Certified sex therapist, author, trainer and co-founder of The Harvey Institute, Douglas Braun-Harvey will engage attendees in learning and experiencing multiple tools that prepare therapists to integrate sexual health conversations within their everyday practice.
Learn how six principles of sexual health provide touchstones for co-constructing sexual health conversations and apply these fundamental tools in individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy. Improve your treatment outcomes by moving beyond common therapist and client struggles in talking about sexual worries, problems and disorders. Learn to integrate sexual health assessment tools and psychotherapy skills that increase your personal and professional confidence in talking about sex!
Who should Attend?
Designed for clinicians of all levels who want to build their confidence and willingness to initiate and facilitate sexual wellness conversations with their clients.
Course Objectives

2. Define and summarize six fundamental principles of sexual health.
3. Measure current level of therapist comfort and willingness to engage in sexual health conversations.
4. Identify common therapist and client barriers to sexual health conversation.
5. Explain essential elements of effective psychotherapeutic sexual health conversations.
6. Identify skills that increase confidence and willingness to engage in sexual health discussions in individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy.
7.Choose sexual health conversation skills relevant to therapy for individual, couples and groups as well as intern training and ongoing clinical supervision
8. Formulate client development of a personal vision of their sexual health.
